Top Breakfast Bakers Honored in State Fair Contest

Top bakers from across the state put their best offerings forward in the Krusteaz Kreations competition judged Tuesday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Rosemary Ridgway of Johnston won first place in the Muffins class. Deb Miller of Indianola claimed second place, and Rita Johannsen of Des Moines earned third place.
In the Breads and Coffee Cakes class, Pat Felderman of Pleasant Hill won first place. Marjorie Rodgers of Indianola took second place and Daphane Trevillyan of Urbandale claimed third place. Virginia Ogan of Osceola was presented with an honorable mention.
Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
