Tasty Truffles Triumph in Iowa State Fair Chocolate Contest

Malt Whisky Truffles were crowned king of chocolates in the Chocolaterie Stam Chocolates contest judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. The recipe, crafted by Suellen L. Calhoun of Des Moines, topped out the Truffles category before earning First Place Overall.
Norita Solt of Bettendorf claimed Second Place Overall with her Caramel Macchiato Caramels, and Stacey Hockett Sherlock of Iowa City took Third Place Overall for her Dark Chocolate Pecan Clusters.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
