Skilled Spellers Succeed in Iowa State Fair Bee

Kids in first through sixth grades competed in the Youth Spelling Bee Friday, August 12, at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Jackson Viertal of Dubuque won the first and second grade division, Eric Dorn of Cascade took first out of third and fourth graders and Paolo Adajar of Weaver grabbed the title in the fifth and sixth grade division.
Contestants were from across Iowa, with up to 70 youngsters competing in each class. All entrants received a ribbon and assorted prizes, with the top two finishers in each class receiving additional prizes for their spelling skills.

“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21.
