Six talented Senior division acts (ages 13-21) have advanced to the semi-final round in Bill Riley’s 53rdannual Iowa State Fair Talent Search. Each act will perform again on Thursday, August 16, or Saturday, August 18.
The names, ages, hometowns and routines are:

Jonathan Wolf, 14, Ames, Violin Solo
Dominique Stone, 18, Des Moines, Hip Hop Dance
Jessica Jensen, 17, Erica Roane, 15, and Lauren Leehy, 16, Neola, Clog Dance
Jeff Arian, 20, Clear Lake, Tyler VanDyke, 20, Dumont, Dan Bodke, 20, Riceville, and Kevin Currier, 20, Allison, Barbershop Quartet
Mackenzie Wagener, 14, Dewitt, Acro Dance
Acts competed statewide to qualify for competition in this year’s Talent Search. The championship round will take place on Sunday, August 19, at 1:30 p.m. on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage sponsored by Pepsi. Bill Riley, Jr. is once again hosting the show.
The first place winner will receive a prize of $7,500. The second and third place winners will be awarded $3,500 and $1,500, respectively. More than $15,000 will be awarded to the Senior and Sprout divisions combined.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2012 Iowa State Fair, August 9-19. The Fairgrounds are located at East 30th and East University Avenue, just 10 minutes east of downtown Des Moines, and are open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day of the Fair. Exhibit hours may vary.
