Senior Talent Acts Advance to Semi-Finals in State Fair Competition

Six talented Senior division acts (ages 13-21) have advanced to the semi-final round in Bill Riley’s 52nd annual Iowa State Fair Talent Search. Each act will perform again on Saturday, August 20.
The names, ages, hometowns and routines are:
Allison Harvey, 21, Clive, Vocal
Michelle Wallace, 21, Johnston, Vocal
Desirae Trammell, 18, Cayden Schiltz, 16, Diagonal, Clog Duet
Jon Haverdink, 17, Orange City, Cello
David Dykstra, 15, Pella, Marimba
Acts competed statewide to qualify for competition in this year’s Talent Search. The championship round will take place on Sunday, August 21, at 1:30 p.m. on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage sponsored by Pepsi. Bill Riley, Jr. is once again hosting the show.
Casey’s General Stores will present the first place winner with a prize of $7,500. The second and third place winners will be awarded $3,500 and $1,500, respectively. Casey’s General Stores will award more than $15,000 to the Senior and Sprout divisions combined.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21. The Fairgrounds are located at East 30th and East University Avenue, just 10 minutes east of downtown Des Moines, and are open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day of the Fair. Exhibit hours may vary.
