Quick Competition in State Fair Microwave Cooking Contest

Natalie Ridgway of Johnston won First Place Overall in the Microwave Cooking for Young and Old contest judged Friday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. Ridgway secured first place in the Main Dish/Side Dish class with her Pizza Cheesy Chicken prior to taking Overall honors.
The contest was open to entrants ages 15 and older. Entries were required to be dishes that could be made solely in the microwave. Judging was based on taste, appearance and ease of preparation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
