People’s Choice Art Awards Given at Iowa State Fair

Winners of the Fine Art Department “People’s Choice Award” were announced August 21 at the Iowa State Fair. More than 3,000 Fairgoers cast a vote to determine this year’s Fair favorites.
Jennifer Parr of Vinton won first place in the Adult division for a drawing titled “Angelica”. William Close, of Hartford City tied for second place with Judd Hoskins of Newton. Mary Muller, of Des Moines placed third.
Josef Lovin of Neveda took first place in the Youth division with an acrylic painting titled “Malibu”. Cara Maak of Altoona placed second and Lydia Gittens of Perry placed third.
Skylar Eakins of West Des Moines won first place in the Junior division for her pastel drawing “Serenity”. Emma Davison of Mason City placed second and Jessica Putzier of Ankeny placed third.
