Nostalgia and Nutrition Win Ribbons in State Fair Food Contest

Jacqueline Riekena of West Des Moines earned first place in the Our Family Recipe Book contest judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Second place went to Cindie Robinette-Anderson of Des Moines, and Greg Kelly Simms of West Des Moines took third. An honorable mention was awarded to Candace Goff of Urbandale.
Entrants in the contest were asked to compile their family’s favorite recipes into a book and tell judges about the history and compilation of the book.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
