McCreedy Smells Sweet Victory in Tone’s Cinnamon Roll Contest at State Fair

Awarded with more than sweet success, Shelby McCreedy of Atlantic won First Place Overall and a $3,000 prize with her Caramel Pecan Rolls in the Tone’s Cinnamon Rolls contest judged Thursday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. McCreedy also secured $500 and first place in the Sticky-Caramel category.
Andrew Michaelsen of Jefferson was awarded Second Place Overall for his Chipolte Bacon-Pecan Rolls. Third Place Overall went to Marj Magg of Spirit Lake for her Cinnamon Rolls Frosted.
A panel of experts judged each entry on its flavor, texture, appearance and aroma.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the recently-renovated Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
