Hanna Bedwell of New Virginia and Emily Slight of Des Moines won first place in their respective age divisions during the My Most Creative C&H Sugar Cookie contest judged Sunday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Clarissa Ridgway of Johnston secured second place behind Bedwell in the 6 to 10-year-old class. Joseph Ridgway, also of Johnston, took third.
Jennifer Leeper of Altoona took second place behind Slight in the 11 to 15-year-old class. Nick Johnson of West Des Moines placed third.
Entries were judged on creativity, taste and appearance.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
