Judges Gobble Up Top Turkey Dishes at State Fair

Iowa’s Turkey industry was in the spotlight as cooks were challenged to create an array of award-worthy dishes in the Let’s Cook with Turkey competition judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Cristen C. Clark of Runnells claimed both First Third Places Overall with Deli Turkey and Herbed Cream Cheese Wheat Bread and Asian Inspired Healthy Turkey Lettuce Cups, respectively.
Lynn Jeffers of Jesup earned Second Place Overall with Mediterranean Turkey Omelet.
Entries were judged on flavor, appearance, versatility and nutrition.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the recently-renovated Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
