Homestyle Pasta Dish Takes First in State Fair Competition

Des Moines resident Rhonda Paul placed first in the My Favorite Pasta Dish class of Granny Franny’s Pasta Contest judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Barb Benoit, also of Des Moines, took second place, and Linda Asbile of Indianola placed third. An honorable mention was awarded to Lynn Jeffers of Jesup.
Asbille also took first in the Kid’s Favorite class.
Recipes were judged on taste and appearance.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
