Phil Dicks of Grundy Center took home the blue ribbon in the Healthy Creations competition’s Healthy Recipe Makeover class judged Monday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Second place was awarded to Robin Tarbell-Thomas of Centerville, and Diane Rauh of Des Moines received third place.
Entrants had to create a recipe that was reduced in calories, fat and sodium. Increased fiber content and reduced sugar content were also desirable. Entries were judged on flavor, reduction of calories, fat and sodium, appearance, originality and creativity and ease of preparation.
