Grundy Center Cook Wins State Fair BBQ Sauce Crown

Phil Dicks of Grundy Center bested the competition to claim first place in the Mine is the Best BBQ Sauce competition judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Tiffany Melchers of Des Moines earned second place and Charlotte Struble of Ames claimed third place.
An honorable mention was given to Jacqueline Riekena of West Des Moines.
Entries were judged on appearance, taste and originality.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the recently-renovated Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
