Gardeners Earn Blue Ribbons in State Fair Sunflower Contest

Mary Schnicker of Mount Pleasant took top honors in the Sunflower division of the Vegetable Crops contest judged Tuesday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Second place went to Tom Smith of Chelsea while Martin Schnicker of Mount Pleasant took third. Oxford Farms of Cambridge placed fourth.
Winning entries from this contest are on display throughout the Fair from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the John Deere Agriculture Building sponsored by Alliant Energy.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21.
