Five Senior Talents Advance in State Fair Talent Contest

Five talented Senior division acts (ages 13-21) have advanced to the semi-final round in Bill Riley’s 52nd annual Iowa State Fair Talent Search. Each act will perform again on Saturday, August 20.
The names, ages, hometowns and routines are:
Delaney Ann Rhoads, 16, Urbandale, Jazz Dance
Alex Doxer, 18, Mechanicsville, Piano
Jonathan Wolf, 13, Ames, Violin
Sierra Heiny, 14, Avoca, Vocal/Guitar
Sarah Matthews, 18, Emmetsburg, Vocal
Acts competed statewide to qualify for competition in this year’s Talent Search. The championship round will take place on Sunday, August 21, at 1:30 p.m. on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage sponsored by Pepsi. Bill Riley, Jr. is once again hosting the show.
Casey’s General Stores will present the first place winner with a prize of $7,500. The second and third place winners will be awarded $3,500 and $1,500, respectively. Casey’s General Stores will award more than $15,000 to the Senior and Sprout divisions combined.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21. The Fairgrounds are located at East 30th and East University Avenue, just 10 minutes east of downtown Des Moines, and are open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day of the Fair. Exhibit hours may vary.
