Feisty Feline Claws Past Competition in State Fair Contest

Iowa’s favorite domesticated felines paraded through the Richard O. Jacobson Exhibition Center for the Household Pet Cat Show judged Friday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Jordyn Mixdorf of Monroe captured the coveted Best of the Best Household Pet Cat award as well as the Best Longhair award with her cat, Griffin.
The Best Shorthair award went to Nicole Walljasper of West Point and her cat, Lucky.
Stacie Madole of Newton won the Cage Decoration award for the most creatively decorated cage for her cat, Jessie.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21. The Fairgrounds are located at East 30th and East University Avenue, just 10 minutes east of downtown Des Moines, and are open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day of the Fair. Exhibit hours may vary.
