Creating a nutritious main dish that can be transported and served in a farm field was the challenge set forth for participants in the Farm Kitchen to Farm Field competition judged Thursday during the 2012 Iowa State Fair
Cristen C. Clark of Runnells won first place and a $50 cash award.
Cheryl Rogers of Ames took second place, and Peggy Hutchins of Linden claimed third place.
Entries were judged on taste, appearance, ease of preparation and ease of transportation.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2012 Iowa State Fair, August 9-19.
