Anita Van Gundy of Des Moines won first place in the Dorothy Lynch Whatcha Got Cookin’ competition judged Saturday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Second place was awarded to Deanna Smith of Des Moines. Marianne Carlson of Jefferson took third, and an Honorable Mention went to Suellen L. Calhoun of Des Moines.
Entrants had to create a recipe using Dorothy Lynch Home Style Dressing or Dorothy Lynch Fat Free Dressing. Entries could not be a recipe currently featured on the Dorothy Lynch website They were judged on taste, creativity and presentation.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2012 Iowa State Fair, August 9-19.
