Rebecca Howe of Des Moines bested the competition in the Organic Baking contest judged Monday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Second place was awarded to Phil Dicks of Grundy Center.
Competitors were challenged to use all organic ingredients in breads, cookies, cakes, pies or pastries. Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2012 Iowa State Fair, August 9-19.
