Iowa’s sweet summertime crop served as the kernel of award winning entries in the Fresh Corn Cuisine competition judged Sunday during the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Pamela J. Reynolds of Norwalk won First Place Overall and a $200 cash prize.
Cristen C. Clark of Runnells took Second Place Overall and a $100 prize, and Beth Seuferer of West Des Moines earned Third Place Overall and $75 dollars.
Entrants were tasked with using at least one cup of fresh sweet corn as the main ingredient in each entry.
Entries were judged on flavor, appearance and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
