Coon’s Continuous Call Claims First in State Fair Ladies’ Chicken Calling Contest

Des Moines resident Angelica Coon out-clucked the competition in the Ladies Chicken Calling contest held Thursday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Margaret Wolfe of Waterloo took second place in the competition. Diana Lee Barker of Indianola and Bonnie Swalwell-Eilert of Jasper County tied for third.
The contest was part of “Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions” in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
