Cooks Create Sweet Treats in Dessert Competition at State Fair

Winners were awarded in the Create Your Best Dessert with Ultra Grain Flour competition, judged Friday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Marianne Carlson of Jefferson won first place in the adult division. First place in the youth division went to Olivia Caron Smith of Winterset.
Entries were judged on flavor, appearance and texture. At least one cup of Ultra Grain Flour was a required ingredient in each recipe.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the recently-renovated Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
