Cedar Rapids Women Embroider Their Way to Wins at Iowa State Fair

Two Cedar Rapids women won high honors in the Fabric and Threads Embroidery contest judged prior to the start of the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Phyllis Olson of Cedar Rapids received the Sweepstakes award. Her blue ribbon-winning exhibits included entries in three Surface Embroidery classes, including two picture classes and the Crewel Embroidery class. Sheri Ekstrom of Cedar Rapids submitted the Best of Show exhibit for the second year in a row.
Fabric and Threads exhibits will be on display every day of the Fair from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building sponsored by Principal Financial Group.
