Postville Hampshire Wins Biggest Boar Contest

“Tiny,” a Hampshire boar outweighed the competition to win the Biggest Boar crown, judged Thursday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. The big pig tipped the scale at an impressive 1,196 pounds. He is owned by Blake Everman of Postville.
“Fatty,” the boar exhibited Ben and Neal Wikner of Farmersburg, took second place at 1,174 pounds. Third place went to “Sergeant” owned by Mike Cormaney of Webster City. The hefty hog weighed 1,162 pounds.
“Tiny,“ as well as the Big Ram and Super Bull will can be visited at the Iowa State Fair in the Swine, Sheep and Cattle Barns respectively through August 21.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21. The Fairgrounds are located at East 30th and East University Avenue, just 10 minutes east of downtown Des Moines, and are open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day of the Fair. Exhibit hours may vary.
