Bettendorf Woman Wins Big in Soup Base Competition

Norita Solt of Bettendorf took first place in the Orrington Farms Soup Base and Food Seasoning contest judged August 2 at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Cheryl Ashwill of Des Moines took second place while Cinnamon Weinman of Pleasant Hill placed third. Joyce Larson of New Market received an Honorable Mention.
Entries were judged on taste.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
