Amber Wagner of Des Moines won a blue ribbon in the "Decorate Iowa" Celebrating Iowa's Birthday competition judged Sunday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Second place was awarded to Jenny Slight, also of Des Moines, and Amy Fuson of Indianola took third.
Entrants were asked to bake and decorate a cake to celebrate Iowa. They were also required to submit a story explaining the inspiration for their cake. Entries were judged on taste, texture, creativity and presentation.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
