Sharon Krause of Waukee and Nick Johnson of West Des Moines earned top honors in the Sleepy Hollow Appetizer contest judged Friday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Krause took the blue ribbon in the Adult category, while Johnson earned first in the Youth category.
In the Adults category, Cindie Robinette-Anderson of Des Moines earned second, and Jacqueline Riekena of West Des Moines was awarded third place. An Honorable Mention was awarded to Kathy Ann Gocke of Bondurant.
Amy Smith of Winterset took second place in the Youth category, and Alex Johnson of West Des Moines won third.
Entries were judged on flavor and appearance.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
