Cathy Stahlman of Ames won first place in the Allspice Mustard competition judged Tuesday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Jackie Garnett of Des Moinesclaimed second place.
Entrants were challenged to create an award worthy mustard made principally from mustard seeds.
Entries were judged on taste, flavor and consistency.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
