The top homemade candymakers from across the state competed in Piper’s Homemade Candies competition judged Thursday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Cathy Jorgensen of Adel tasted victory with her First Place Overall win. Jorgensen earned a $50 cash prize.
Natalie Ridgway of Johnston took $25 and Second Place Overall, while Dianne Caron-Smith of Winterset captured $15 and Third Place Overall.
All entries were judged on flavor, texture and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
